LoRaWAN Solar Water Meter Valve

The LoRaWAN Solar Water Meter Valve combines a high-efficiency solar power system, precision water-flow sensor, and remotely actuated valve into one rugged device. It measures real-time water usage and lets you open or close valves instantly through LoRaWAN Class C, ensuring accurate control of irrigation or distribution systems in even the most remote locations.

With its IP67/68-rated enclosure, wide temperature tolerance, and ultra-low-power design, it operates reliably year-round without external power or frequent maintenance. Whether you need to automate irrigation schedules, prevent leaks, or optimize water resources, this device provides robust, actionable data and dependable remote control.

Overview

The LoRaWAN Solar Water Meter Valve is a fully self-sustaining IoT device that unites three core functions—solar-powered energy supply, precision water-flow metering, and remote valve actuation—for complete water-management control in outdoor or off-grid environments.

Solar Power & Energy Management
A high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panel continuously recharges an internal lithium battery, allowing year-round, maintenance-free operation even in remote sites with limited sunlight. Intelligent power management, deep-sleep modes, and low-current electronics ensure long battery life, while the solar system provides enough surplus energy to handle the higher current needed for valve actuation.

Precision Water Meter
The built-in water-flow sensor delivers accurate, real-time measurements of instantaneous flow rate and total volume. Pulse counting converts to liters or gallons, enabling leak detection, usage analytics, and automated reporting. Data is buffered locally to prevent loss if the network connection temporarily drops.

Remote-Control Valve
A robust, low-power solenoid valve allows you to start or stop water flow instantly via LoRaWAN® Class C downlinks. Class C provides near-continuous receive windows, meaning commands—such as emergency shutoff or scheduled irrigation—are executed with minimal delay. The valve is rated for typical irrigation pressures and is compatible with standard pipe fittings.

Industrial-Grade Enclosure
Designed for harsh environments, the device is sealed to IP67/68, protecting against dust, heavy rain, and temporary submersion. UV-resistant materials and wide operating temperatures (approximately –40 °C to +85 °C) make it ideal for farms, greenhouses, municipal installations, and remote water infrastructure.

LoRaWAN Connectivity
The unit supports regional LoRaWAN frequency plans (e.g., EU868, US915, AU915) with ranges up to several kilometers depending on terrain. It integrates seamlessly with networks such as The Things Network or ChirpStack, using standard AES encryption for secure data transmission. Configurable uplink intervals and downlink controls allow custom reporting and valve schedules.

Deployment & Maintenance
Mounting brackets simplify installation on pipes or walls, while the compact footprint makes it easy to retrofit onto existing irrigation systems. Over-the-air configuration and optional firmware updates minimize field maintenance.
